Veraison is Love’s favorite word, most simply meaning a guaranteed yet sudden and unexpected ripening. It is a word most often used when referring to the harvesting of grapes for wine. The creator of the wine wakes up each morning and walks into the vineyards to check the grapes for ripeness. As they remain hard for an unpredictable amount of time, days, weeks, months, they then unexpectedly, overnight become ripe for the plucking.
